White Point Beach is looking for an experienced Bar Supervisor to join our resort.

Located on Nova Scotia’s picturesque South Shore, White Point is a quintessential beachfront holiday experience – all year round. The Main Lodge is the heart of the property – sprawling, yet cozy, with crackling wood fires and warm, maritime hospitality. This important leadership will be responsible for recruiting a large team, in a busy year-round operation.
Role Summary
The Bar Supervisor will work under the direction of the Food and Beverage Manager, as well as the food and beverage leadership including the culinary team. The F&B Supervisor will work with the associates ensuring the service and quality standards of the Bar and food and beverage outlets are met and continually developed within established business and strategic plans. This role has an overall responsibility for supervising a shift in the Founders Lounge in cooperation with the Food and Beverage leadership team. This position will remain active within the operation to provide direct service by serving and preparing alcohol and/or non-alcoholic beverages and food. Must be a Canadian resident and be able to legally work in Canada, subsidized live in accommodation is available for this role.
Responsibilities
● Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean, wrinkle free and professional
● Follow appropriate personal hygiene procedures to ensure food served to guests is safe for consumption including disinfecting hands prior to handling food
● Oversee daily department operation, including start of shift briefings, section assignments, bill discrepancies and end of shift cash remittances
● Greet and welcome guests to the restaurant and ensure their experience is positive
● Ensure that service standards are being met by the front of house service associates in all food and beverage areas
● Prepare drink orders for guests according to specified recipes using measuring systems
● Order, Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles
● Set up and maintain cleanliness and condition of bar, bar unit, tables, and other tools
● Prepare fresh garnishes for drinks
● Stock ice, glassware, and paper supplies
● Wash soiled glassware and utensils after each use
● Remove soiled wares from bar top and tables and place in designated area
● Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs
● Ensure side stations are adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen or other established needs, be they food or equipment
● Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact and a friendly verbal greeting using the guests’ names when possible
● Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu items
● Take members food orders as needed and accurately serve guests
● Serve food and beverages in accordance with laid-down standards, but above all in a professional, courteous manner
● Anticipate guests’ service needs including asking questions of guests to better understand and act on their needs
● Actively listen and respond positively to guests’ questions, concerns and requests using brand or property specific process to resolve issues, delight and build trust
● Communicate with the kitchen to ensure proper service
● Ensure that customers are correctly charged, present the bill, and take payment from the customer, in accordance with procedures
● Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas
● Stock the bar by bringing liquor bottles, mixed drink ingredients, and other bar supplies from the storeroom to the bar
● Removes empty bottles and trash and replaces empty beer kegs
● Check identification of customers to make sure they meet age requirements
● Determine when a customer has had too much alcohol, stop serving and ensure a safe ride home is arranged
● Monitor, maintain and order liquor and bar supplies
● Thorough understanding of the BEO`s, and special request and billing specifications
● Serve as an individual contributor and department role model by performing technical or functional job duties such as serving or clearing tables, taking orders, etc.
● Aid individuals with disabilities including assisting visually, hearing or physically impaired guests within WPBR guidelines
● Work with the leadership team to ensure that associates are trained and clearly understand their job roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations
● Address guest concerns, requests, or issues
● Provide constructive feedback to associates to help them develop their skills
● Collaborate with Food and Beverage Manager to develop and carry-out ideas and procedures to continuously improve department performance
● Ensure that department goals are communicated, understood, and met by associates
● Coordinate tasks and work with other departments to ensure that the department runs efficiently
● Curate and Coordinate interactive member experiences with the food and beverage leadership team
● Complete scheduled inventories, stock and requisition necessary supplies
● Ensure that department goals are communicated, understood, and met by associates
● Assist in the development of the Wine program through developing relationships with key suppliers, in alignment with business plan
● Coach and counsel associates on work related concerns and issues to ensure satisfaction and productivity
● Assist in preparing and presenting performance management documentation to associates
● Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
● Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required

Requirements
● 2 years of food and beverage leadership experience in a resort or hospitality setting
● Minimum Level 1 WSET or equivalent program an asset
● Comprehensive knowledge of fine food wines and service
● Must possess excellent customer service skills
● Must be computer literate. Preferred candidate will have previous experience with food and beverage software, Microsoft Word and Excel
● Strong verbal and written communication skills
● Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
● Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
● Must be extremely responsible with integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
Working Conditions
● Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
● Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
● Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
● Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
