We’ve been welcoming couples for decades to our shores to exchange their vows – each has been unique and wonderful. It really is magical to be surrounded by the essence of Nova Scotia, the seacoast and the comfort and warmth of White Point. We know you’ve got many questions. Below we have provided as much information as possible to help you decide if White Point is the right place for your wedding. Can we have our wedding ceremony itself on the beach?
Due to tides, uneven surfaces and related safety concerns, we are not able to host actual wedding ceremonies on the sand beach itself. However, to get you as close as possible to the beach, we can host your ceremony on the lawn in front of the Ocean Lodge, adjacent to the Main Lodge with the Atlantic Ocean as your backdrop!
How much does it cost to host an outdoor ceremony?
Our outdoor wedding ceremony fee is $600.00 plus 15% HST and is available to couples hosting their reception on site. This includes an ocean side ceremony, setting up and dismantling of chairs with a centre aisle, a sound system with a corded microphone and a CD player or iPod jack.
Where else can we host our ceremony at White Point Beach Resort?
We have additional lawn space beside the lake, adjacent to Lakeside Hall, and for smaller weddings, there is the option to use Crow’s Nest, or even inside your accommodation. In the event of inclement weather, your reception space, (or a portion of it) can be used for your ceremony. We will set the room for a ceremony, and reset for dinner while you’re getting pictures done.
Do you make the arrangements for the Officiant?
We can provide contact information for local ministers and Justices of the Peace. However, these are very personal arrangements that should be made directly by the engaged couple.
Can you recommend hair stylists, florists, DJ services, photographers, etc?
Of course we can! For your convenience, we are happy to provide you with this extensive list of services and partners who are able to make your day perfect.
How many people can White Point accommodate for a Wedding Reception?
With more than 7,200 square feet of meeting and indoor event space, we are able to offer you a variety of locations to host your reception at White Point Beach Resort. From our spectacular Atlantic Room or Lakeside Hall, our banquet space can accommodate everything from an intimate gathering of the immediate family to a full sit down dinner for 200. Our Atlantic Room features floor to ceiling windows overlooking the spectacular Atlantic Ocean and White Point Beach. Refurbished and stunning, our Lakeside Hall overlooks the lake on the property and features a floor to ceiling wood-burning beach stone fireplace – it’s made a perfect backdrop for winter wedding ceremonies and receptions.
Can I host my reception in the Atlantic Room or Lakeside Hall?
To reserve your wedding reception in the Atlantic Room or Lakeside Hall, we are happy to provide this banquet facility free of charge. Seasonal minimums will apply.
Do you provide decorating services or can we decorate ourselves?
We understand that decorations create an atmosphere and are happy to work with you in planning your decor. Unfortunately, White Point is not able to provide decorating services for your event, nor do we have supplies available for use. We are able to provide you with contact information for decorators in our region, please see our Wedding Resource List here.
Please be aware that due to fire regulations, White Point does not allow the following: taper candles and/or taper style slim candlesticks, candelabra (free standing or tabletop), or any kind of candle on the window sills. We require that all decorations be authorized for use by one of the Event Services Team. We reserve the right to refuse use of any decorations should there be a potential for damage to the property or fire/health risk.
What kind of meals can be accommodated?
Sit down plated dinners or buffets can be accommodated with a variety of menu choices. We also offer an extensive hors d’oeuvres menu should you prefer a stand up reception. Please note however, all food and beverage must be catered by White Point Beach Resort. The only exception would be your wedding cake, which we know you will have likely picked out from your favourite bakery. For more information about your meal options, view our banquet menus.
Do you provide alternate food for children?
We recognize that “little ones” are an important part of the day, and that they may prefer something other than Mommy’s dinner to eat. Please refer to our “Kids’ Stuff” page in our menu, with entrees such as chicken fingers and fries, hamburgers, etc. that will tempt their taste buds. We’ll work with you to choose one selection to be offered for your young guests!
Can we stock and operate our own bar, or provide our own wine?
All of White Point’s banquet spaces are licensed areas, therefore you would not be able to supply your own alcohol for an event.
How late can the bar stay open?
The bar can stay open until 1:00am.
Can we have a bonfire during the evening?
You may certainly enjoy our bonfire area during your event; we do ask that you respect the Resort’s quiet time of 11pm each evening, and wrap up your outdoor activities by that time. Any group activities must be planned with your White Point contact’s knowledge and maintained within the designated spaces.
What about overnight accommodations?
Your guests are invited to stay with us at White Point Beach Resort. We have a 2-night minimum booking policy for accommodations, therefore your guests would be required to book either Friday and Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday evenings if the wedding is taking place on a weekend. There are no discounts for accommodations. If you feel you would require rooms for your guests, we suggest putting a “room block” in place as soon as possible in order to ensure availability. We will require a pre-determined release date for this block which will be outlined in your contract.
What deposit is required?
A non-refundable deposit of $2,500.00 is required to confirm your date. A second deposit will be 12-6 months in advance of your wedding, depending on date of booking and season. The full projected balance is due two weeks prior to your wedding date. These amounts will be credited to your final bill. Any remaining balance will be due upon check out from the Resort.
Is there a minimum purchase requirement?
Yes, White Point requires a minimum food purchase of $40 per person, prior to taxes and gratuities. For all bars, there is a minimum sales requirement of $1,200.00 prior to taxes and gratuities, per location. Set-up, labour and room rental fees will not apply if these minimums are met.
Are there any other fees that we should be aware of?
SOCAN and Re:Sound Licensing Fees:
Two organizations in Canada levy fees for all events in which music or entertainment are employed: SOCAN and Re:Sound. SOCAN – The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada – represents music creators and publishers; Re:Sound represents artists and record companies. Both organizations are governed by the Copyright Board of Canada and White Point is bound to collect these fees and remit them quarterly. Fees for both, plus applicable taxes, will be automatically applied to your invoice as follows:
Up to 100 people: Without Dancing $20.56 / With Dancing $41.13
101-300 people: Without Dancing $29.56 / With Dancing $59.17
Can you accommodate our rehearsal party?
If your wedding is taking place at White Point, why not make it a White Point weekend and have your rehearsal party on site? Many couples include the evening before the big day festivities as an icebreaker for out of town guests or a reunion of family members.
If you are planning your reception in the Liverpool area and/or have guests staying at White Point, you can host the rehearsal party here for a change of location.
Some of our more popular rehearsal party ideas include a BBQ and mussel bake at one of our outdoor waterside fireplaces, a planked salmon buffet, or an hors d’oeuvres reception in one of our banquet rooms. Call us for more details!
Can we have fireworks as part of our event?
Fireworks have become a very popular addition to events at White Point, and they look amazing over the beach! We’ll work with you to ensure the best experience for you and your guests. As fireworks can be hazardous (for all of us!), all fireworks must be purchased from White Point. We work with an exclusive supplier to ensure you get superior safety and quality. We have a wide variety of package options for you to choose from. Interested? Be sure to ask about this addition to your wedding as you work through your planning sessions with our Event Services team. For your convenience and enjoyment, Fireworks Shows are presented by our trained staff members at a fee of $100 plus tax and gratuity in addition to the Fireworks Package you select.
Fireworks shows will be staged no later than 10:00 pm. All guests of White Point will receive prior notice that the fireworks show will take place, so as not to disturb their evening. We appreciate your cooperation in this regard.
