Winner of the Queens County Business Legacy/ Lifetime Achievement Award!

We are honoured and humbled to be recognized with the Queens county Business Legacy / Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Lunenburg Queens Business Excellence Awards!

A heartfelt thank you to the LQBEA Committee for organizing such a wonderful event and for celebrating the achievements of businesses in our community. Your dedication to showcasing the incredible work happening in Queens County and beyond truly inspires us all.

For nearly 36 years, White Point Beach Resort has been guided by the vision and passion of our owner, Robert Risley, who has not only invested in the success of the resort but in the heart of our community. Under Robert’s leadership, we’ve proudly become one of the largest employers in the region, offering a welcoming place for local talent to grow and shine. Today, we employ nearly 130 staff year-round and close to 240 during the summer. From students starting their careers with internships to long-serving team members who’ve been with us for over 30 years, White Point has always been a home—a place where employees return, not just to work but to be part of our family.

Throughout our journey, we’ve embraced challenges and opportunities. When our beloved main lodge burned down in 2011, Robert and his wife Alicia assured our team that we would rise again, like a phoenix from the ashes. And we did! By 2012, we proudly reopened the doors to our newly rebuilt lodge, a symbol of resilience and our deep connection to this community.

As a leader in hospitality standards in Liverpool and Queens County, we strive to attract international and Canadian guests to experience the natural beauty of Nova Scotia. Our marketing efforts are rooted in our love for this province, showcasing its cozy charm, breathtaking landscapes, and warm East Coast hospitality.

During the pandemic, White Point prioritized the safety of Nova Scotians by welcoming only provincial guests, demonstrating our dedication to the well-being of our community.

In 2023, when Nova Scotia faced devastating wildfires, White Point once again opened its doors, welcoming displaced locals free of charge—a small way for us to give back to the community that has supported us for so long.

Robert’s commitment to innovation has brought exciting new offerings like Glomes and Treehouses, providing unique experiences for our guests while catering to a growing demographic.

Our philanthropic efforts are a cornerstone of our identity. For over 14 years, we’ve hosted the Annual Winter “On the Rocks” Fundraiser, donating proceeds to local charities. Our Artists of White Point Show and Sale, now in its 12th year, offers a platform for local artists to showcase their talent. We are also proud to support schools, charities, and fundraising initiatives, donating gift cards to auctions and causes close to our hearts.

Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives have grown tremendously, and we are honoured to work with Tamara, who leads our Mi’kmaq Educational Programs. These programs raise awareness and foster meaningful connections with local Indigenous communities, ensuring their stories are shared and celebrated.

We are deeply grateful to Robert and Alicia Crooks-Risley for their passion, vision, and belief in the potential of White Point. Thank you to our incredible community, loyal guests, and dedicated team for being part of this journey.
