Spend Saturday September 21st exploring the trails and coastline at Kejimkujik National Park SEASIDE with Parks Canada Interpreters in search of the invasive green crabs, learn about edible seaweeds with East Coast Wild Foods then help prepare and enjoy a savoury “Wild Food Taster” with Mateus Bistro and Boxing Rock Brewery. After your full day at SEASIDE, head to White Point Beach Resort an overnight stay with Dinner & Breakfast.

We’ve teamed up with our friends at Parks Canada who in turn have crafted a special one-of-a kind salty adventure on Saturday, September 21, 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at Kejimkujik National Park Seaside. Get up close and personal with all things coastal including how to cook, prepare and eat local seaweeds and green crab. Demonstrations, local restaurant tastings, guided coastal foraging hike, and ‘crabby’ activities for the whole family.
Savour the Seaside: CrabFest
10:30am-2:30pm, Saturday September 21/19
at Kejimkujik National Park SEASIDE
Embark on a leisurely guided Coastal foraging hike within Kejimkujik National Park SEASIDE in Port Joli to Harbour Rocks with East Coast Wild Foods, stopping along the way for plant identification and recipe discussions. Once at Harbour Rocks, Parks Canada Interpreters will invite participants to find green crabs along the rocky inter-tidal zone. During a ‘Wild Foods Taster’ and green crab bisque join Mateus Bistro of Mahone Bay and Boxing Rock Brewery of Shelburne.at the beach to savour a taste of the South Shore.
Participants should gather at the trail head in the parking lot. Event begins promptly at 10:30 am.
Good to knows:
Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes and be prepared to hike 6.5km.
Please dress for cooler coastal weather and bring snacks and water as this is a tasting event only.
CrabFest is a fair weather event and will be postponed if it rains or there are high winds, exceeding gusts of 35km/hr. Registered participants will be notified of cancellation by 3pm the day prior.
