Marketing, Communications & Product Development Manager

White Point is a successful, privately owned business that is currently seeking a Marketing, Communications and Product Development Manager to become an integral member of the team. With an insatiable appetite for creating and curating memorable moments for guests, partners and staff, this position plays a critical role in guiding the ongoing successful year-round operation of the business.

Providing leadership in areas of communication, marketing, brand management, crisis communications, partnerships and opportunities for continued revenue growth, the position reports directly to the General Manager. While the department consists of one, the delivery of the White Point experiences to market requires that the Manager work closely with all departments and partners to ensure the brand promise is delivered. Guided by the goals and budget approved as part of the resorts operating budget, to create and achieve the annual marketing plan and activities.

 

Responsibilities:

Marketing

Create, implement, monitor and manage the overall marketing plan, budget and programs for White Point.

Including but not limited to:

Brand Reputation Management

  • Manage, monitor and respond to Trip Advisor, Google Reviews, Indeed, OTA`s, Opentable etc.
  • Management of the website.
  • Monitor all conversations on social channels including direct messages, comments and tagged content that include Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn etc.

Advertising

  • Secure, provide and direct content for a mix of paid and earned advertising in print, radio, TV, travel media, social media and digital advertising within target markets.
  • Manage relationships with advertising/communication/media agencies & freelancers to execute strategies and plans on time and on budget.

Partnerships

  • Critical to the success of White Point is the engagement and nurturing of partnerships with businesses, organizations and individuals that strengthen and enhance the impact of White Point within the cultural, social and economic sustainability of not only White Point, but the surrounding communities within the region and Nova Scotia.
  • Continuously seek out, develop and foster partnerships that generate incremental or maintain business volumes, relationships, and collaborations. This includes other businesses, organizations, government departments etc. locally, regionally, nationally and internationally where relevant.

Asset Development

  • To maintain an up-to-date inventory of photos, videos, and b-roll to be used within promotions, communications and advertising.
  • Review proposals and partnerships with social influencers.
  • Use graphic design tools to create branding graphics and visuals.

Digital Media

  • Manage, maintain and evolve whitepoint.com. Provide regular audits and work with internal teams to ensure all content is up to date.
  • Manage social media channels and maintain an active presence on Facebook and Instagram. Track and optimize campaign performance across all social accounts.
  • Execute a consistent blog schedule and repurpose content for social channels.
  • Prepare and issue e-newsletters (monthly or more frequently) to key audiences including leisure and meeting planners as a promotional channel leading to sales. Track data such as open rates and share with the management team.
  • Facilitate and manage digital marketing advertising and promotions.
  • Facilitate and manage presence on third party travel sites like TripAdvisor, NovaScotia.com, Queens County Tourism etc.

Promotions & Public Relations

  • Identify, develop and deliver all promotional materials required by other departments as required in addition to property brochure, map, signage, videos, flyers, etc.
  • Write and issue media releases while managing and responding to media inquiries.
  • Identify and participate in appropriate tradeshows.
  • Seek out, secure and re-purpose earned media exposure in targeted publications and travel media.
  • Serve as the curator of White Point content and storytelling directly through White Point channels and indirectly through third party providers.
  • Create and manage contesting initiatives that broaden reach, engagement and generate sales, including contesting.

Promotional Gift Certificate Program

  • Manage Promotional Gift Certificate Program, monitor and facilitate achievement of supporting charitable organizations, while leveraging gift certificate sales goals and promotion of White Point.

 

Product Development

Monitoring trends and opportunities, building on the diverse resources of White Point, work closely with the Management Team to identify, develop and guide implementation of new products, events and experiences that expand our market reach, sales and partnerships, strengthens our market penetration and viability as a year-round destination. Support the coordination of onsite programs that guide guest experience and ease on property.

 

Research & Analysis

  • Undertake and review statistics, performance and evaluate impact of marketing activities.
  • Weekly reviews of business on the books, pace, monitoring performance and target achievement.
  • Continually monitor Google Analytics, Maestro Analytics and those from digital integrations, using insights gained to help shape marketing plan and identify revenue opportunities.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A passion for ‘making moments memories’ for guests and fellow team members within a unique and legendary beachside destination.
  • Embodies a sense of pride for locally produced experiences, products and services.
  • 5-7 years experience in Business/Tourism Hospitality Marketing combined with related post secondary education.
  • Ability to nurture, influence and mentor.
  • Excellent skills in communication, leadership and team building.
  • As a results focused self-starter, able to multi-task, set priorities and meet timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, organize, manage and implement special events.
  • Digital experience in WordPress, Mailchimp, social media, Google Analytics, Microsoft Suite products.
  • Works collaboratively and cooperatively internally and externally.
  • Ability to represent the company professionally, proactively and with pride inside and outside the company.
  • Healthy appetite for adventure, fun and experiences.
