Gift Shop Manager
Seasonal Full-Time, Part Time during the Winter hours | White Point Beach Resort, Nova Scotia
At White Point Beach Resort, our Gift Shop is more than a retail space — it’s an extension of the guest experience. From locally crafted keepsakes to curated coastal essentials, we offer items that help our guests take a piece of White Point home with them.
We’re looking for a creative, organized, and community-minded Gift Shop Manager to lead our retail operation and elevate the shopping experience for our guests.
Position Overview
The Gift Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the resort’s retail space. This role blends merchandising creativity, strong operational management, and local relationship-building to ensure the shop reflects the spirit of our coastal destination.
You will manage product selection, vendor partnerships, inventory control, sales performance, and guest service — all while creating a welcoming and visually appealing retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Gift Shop
- Manage inventory control, ordering, receiving, and stock rotation
- Lead product buying and seasonal merchandising strategy
- Source and curate unique products that align with the White Point brand
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local artists, makers, and suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, margins, and vendor agreements
- Utilize Square POS for sales processing, reporting, inventory tracking, and performance analysis
- Monitor sales trends and adjust product mix to maximize revenue
- Develop creative product displays and maintain visual merchandising standards
- Hire, train, and supervise retail team members
- Ensure exceptional guest service standards are maintained
- Manage budgets, pricing strategies, and cost controls
- Coordinate promotions and special product features aligned with resort events and seasons
Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years of retail management experience (hospitality or tourism setting preferred)
- Strong experience using Square POS systems for transactions, reporting, and inventory management (although we can train you too)
- Proven experience in product buying and retail merchandising
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with local artists and small vendors
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of retail margins and inventory control
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Creative eye for merchandising and display design
- Passion for local products, community partnerships, and guest experience

This role requires flexibility, including weekends and holidays, as well as the ability to lift and move merchandise up to 25 lbs.
