Director of Sales
The Director of Sales reports to the General Manager and is responsible for effectively soliciting, prospecting and developing new business as well as growing existing accounts for the purpose of closing group business and achieving sales goals.
In partnership with the Event Services Team, create and execute the annual departmental sales goals included in the group rooms budget, (group & wedding room nights), to ensure that overall group room revenue meets or exceeds budget, and that the food & beverage associated with group business is maximized, while delivering exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and prospect a portfolio of accounts within the corporate, association and government market segments to achieve annual sales goals
- Generate new business using existing and new customer networks
- Business development through research and identifying new potential customers and market opportunities
- Nurture positive relationships with customers and provide timely and effective responses to enquiries
- Effectively communicate our value proposition, through individual sales calls, presentations, site tours, FAMS, telephone, email, and proposals. Includes logging all calls and sales activities within Maestro
- Ability to understand customer’s business needs and objectives and then to communicate, present and influence the decision makers within an organization
- Solicit new opportunities for wholesale accounts while reviewing existing contracted rates – submit yearly renewals and contracts
- Attend tradeshows, business, industry and Chamber events to source potential contacts, leads and sales opportunities
- Consistently provide Event Services when on-site or by phone, with support, coaching, guidance, feedback and engaging team opportunities for continuous improvement with our group guest experience and our delivery of service
- Develop and implement an annual Sales Action Plan to provide departmental direction
- Work closely with the Marketing Manager with the development of group newsletters, collateral and marketing opportunities within the group market segments
- Attend and contribute to weekly Revenue Management meetings to maximize short term REVPAR and grow market share
- Work closely with members of the Management Team to achieve/exceed overall Resort budget

Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- Stand, sit or walk for an extended period or for an entire shift
- Remote from Halifax – DOS must travel to the Resort to conduct tours and client meetings as necessary (milage paid and lodging at Resort) but otherwise can work out of their home (preferrable in Halifax)
- Will be expected to work the Halifax business scene in person
