Is White Point open year-round?
Oh Yes! White Point is open year-round and offers an abundance of recreational activities for each of the four seasons. Our beach is a great place to be in the middle of the summer, but sitting by one of the big, beach stone fireplaces with a hot drink in hand is a great place to be on a snowy winter’s day as well! Christmas, New Year’s Valentine’s are all perfect excuses to head over for a visit too.

Can I check availability for my preferred dates/accommodations?
You sure can just drop over to our Online Calendar and Booking section of our website! Please note however that our Vacation Homes, Ocean Lodge and a couple of other cottages are bookable only by calling us at 800.565.5068 ext 1 here at White Point.

What time can I check-in? What time is checkout?
While Vacation Homes have a check-in of 4 pm and check out of 10 am, all other accommodations have a Check-in at 3:00 pm. on the day of your arrival. However, you are welcome to arrive early and enjoy our recreation facilities and programs. Check-out is 11:00 am. Feel free to linger after checking out and extend your stay! Please note, late check-out times may result in additional fees. TO CONFIRM YOUR CHECK-IN/OUT TIMES, CHECK YOUR CONFIRMATION LETTER.

How is everything laid out at White Point, it looks like a large property.
Indeed we are on a peninsula reaching out into the Atlantic Ocean. Our accommodations and facilities are located throughout the property. Here is our property map. You will receive a copy of this at Check-in as well, but this will help you get familiar with us before you arrive.

Where did the bunnies come from?
Wild bunnies seemed to have always lived in and around White Point. Many years ago, we had been babysitting a few bunnies when they seemed to have been enticed by the others around them to ‘escape’ their pen and, as they say, nature took its course. As the bunnies continued to grow in numbers, we invite guests to feed them. While they have sufficient food sources here at the beach (they love clover, rose hips and hostas!), bunny food in bags was provided, giving the bunnies a good reason to stick around. Today, the bunnies are a permanent fixture of the resort grounds. Bags of complimentary bunny food are always available at the front desk. Be sure to check out the book I Spy a Bunny by Judy Dudar which is based on White Point! Pick up a copy in our Gift Shop.

Are the oceanfront cottages open in the winter?
Yes, our oceanfront cottages are open in the winter and are fully winterized with either propane or wood-burning fireplaces and stoves. Our entire property is open throughout the winter. We offer a variety of theme weekends, special events and festivities on holidays!

Does the beach change with the seasons?
Dramatically! Check this out to see how our beach changes over the seasons. Our full sand beach gives way to an incredible cobblestone beach in the winter months. An incredible 4 – 5 feet of sand washes in and out with the changing of the seasons. We consider it Mother Nature’s ‘facial’ for our beach!

What amenities are available in your accommodations?
All our accommodations feature flat-screen TVs, DVD players, mini-fridges, microwaves, alarm clocks, coffee makers, irons and ironing boards, hairdryers, and toiletries. Most cottages have either a separate living room or living area and fireplaces or wood stoves. All have a phone with complimentary wifi access. All units have a patio or deck.
Our White Point Vacation Homes and Cottages have full kitchen and dining facilities as well as a washer and dryer.

Do you allow pets?
We do! White Point allows small pets in our White Point Rooms and some cottages. While outside, all pets must be on a leash, and we ask that you please clean up after them. A nominal fee of $25 plus tax per stay is applicable. Please do inform us if you will be bringing your pet upon making your reservation.

Do you have playpens for infants?
We love that families enjoy coming to White Point. For your convenience, we have ‘Pack and Play’ Playpens available. When you make your reservation, please be sure to let us know if you would like one added to your reservation and ready for your arrival. Please note: we do not have cribs available at White Point.

Do you have on-site laundry facilities?
Yes, there are laundry facilities located on property in the Guest Laundry which is open year-round. Laundry detergent is available at the front desk. White Point Vacation Club units have their own washers and dryers.

What activities are available for kids?
White Point is a kid’s paradise! We have a full summer recreation schedule (at other times of the year, the recreation schedule is organized on weekends) that offers arts & crafts, games, stories, face painting, movies, bonfires on the beach and much more. This schedule runs every day during the summer months, during March Break, and on weekends throughout the rest of the year. There are also indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a games room (ping pong, billiards, shuffleboard), beach volleyball, tennis courts, a boathouse which houses kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, and surfboards, and bicycle rentals. Do you have Babysitting Services?
We hope you enjoy your stay with your family. No, we do not provide Baby-sitting services, however, the bunnies make for great attention keepers!

Do all of your cottages have fireplaces?
All cottage accommodations have either a propane or wood-burning fireplace or a wood stove. Wood is provided complimentary with your stay.

Do you have any accommodations with kitchenettes?
Yes – our Cottage Colony and Vacation Rentals and Cottage 55 on the edge of the ocean all have full kitchens, equipped with everything from forks and knives to dishcloths and placemats. All guest rooms and cottages within the resort also have a microwave oven and mini-fridge for your convenience.

Is there entertainment at White Point?
Yes, White Point has live entertainment most weekends throughout the year and every evening during the summer months in our cozy Founder’s Lounge. Please note: in keeping with Nova Scotia laws, the Founder’s Lounge is restricted to those 19 years and older daily after 9:00 p.m.

What facilities are included in my room rate?
The majority of facilities and recreation programs are included in your room rate. There are additional fees for golf, spa treatments and surf equipment and lessons. Meals are not included, but we offer several excellent meal plan options.

What is your cancellation policy?
Due to the variety of accommodations from rooms and cottages to homes, our cancellation policy varies. In the unfortunate event that you should need to cancel your reservation, the following will apply:
For stays of less than 5 nights (not including reservations in July and August):
We require notice of cancellation 72 hours before 3:00 pm of your scheduled day of arrival, please be advised that a $10 fee will apply. Cancellations made within 72 hours, including not showing up on your arrival date, shall result in a forfeiture of your deposit or form of guarantee.
For stays of 5 nights or more:
We require notice of cancellation 30 days before 3:00 pm of your scheduled day of arrival, please be advised that a $10 fee will apply. Cancellations within 30 days, including not showing up on your arrival date, shall result in a forfeiture of your deposit or form of guarantee.
For July, August and Holiday reservations:
If your stay includes July, August, Christmas Day, New Year’ s Eve, Heritage Saturday or Sunday, Labour Day Saturday or Sunday, Easter Saturday or Sunday, Thanksgiving Saturday or Sunday we require notice 7 days before 3:00 pm of your scheduled day of arrival, please be advised that a $10 fee will apply. Cancellations made within 7 days, including not showing up on your arrival date, shall result in a forfeiture of your deposit of form of guarantee.

Is there a Minimum Night Stay?
To truly enjoy a stay at White Point, you should be staying at least 2 nights while travelling within Nova Scotia – there’s just so much to do, or simply do nothing at all and let the ocean surf sounds work their magic on you. Typically, throughout the year all of our accommodations (rooms and cottages) on weekends (Fri. & Sat.) do have a minimum 2-night stay. Having said that there are sometimes one night Saturday night stays available – if you are looking for that specifically we invite you to call us to inquire at 1-800-565-5068. During July and August, there is a minimum 2-night stay within our 1 – 8 bedroom cottages. Again there may be some 1 night stays available, please do call us to inquire if you have a specific date in mind. You can check availability in our online booking system anytime, but again please note that it does not include all of our accommodations, so if you don’t see availability for what you are looking for – call us, if you want to come and stay with us, we’d like to make that happen!

What is the Deposit Policy?
When you make your reservation, the following deposits apply:
For reservation of one to four nights, we require a one-night deposit including tax.
For reservations five nights or more we require ½ of the stay including tax.

When I book with Expedia, Booking.com and other Companies like this – am I booking directly with White Point and getting a better rate?
No. When you book with these companies, you are booking with them, not directly with us. If you are looking at staying with us, we invite you to contact us directly. These companies have limited access to our accommodations, and we can ensure we best understand your needs and wants and match those for you. Regarding price, if you book directly with us you can get the same rate but most importantly, you support us as an independent business rather than paying these companies commissions for the service of making your booking. Is there anywhere to shop in the area?
There is a Gift Shop at the resort where you can purchase souvenirs, clothing and books from a collection of more than 65 artists. The towns and villages along the South Shore are known for their quaint streets lined with boutiques and cafés. The nearby town of Liverpool is home to a good variety of shopping options. The Front Desk would be happy to point you in the right direction!

Does White Point have non-smoking rooms?
Yes – all of the accommodations at White Point are smoke-free. We also endorse the smoking policy of the Government of Nova Scotia.

Does White Point have wheelchair-accessible rooms?
Yes, White Point has wheelchair-accessible rooms within the Main Lodge and throughout the Resort. If you require one of these rooms, please make your request when booking your reservation.

Do you have a honeymoon suite?
There are several accommodations at White Point that our guests call honeymoon suites. The most popular location for romance is Cottage 12, a one-bedroom oceanfront cottage with a fireplace, a whirlpool bath and a 4-poster bed.

What is the ocean water temperature in the summer months?
The temperature of the ocean water varies during the summer months. Most often the temperatures in June and July are between 8 and 12 degrees Celsius and in August and September between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius (check here for conversions). If you wish to swim for a long period of time, we would recommend the freshwater lake on our property or the indoor or outdoor pool.

Do you have beach towels and/or beach chairs?
We do have towels available from the indoor pool deck. However, they are not beach towels – you may want to bring one from home for your stay. While we do have loungers on the pool decks and out around the property on the lawns, we do not have loungers on the beach itself due to the tides that rise twice daily.

What is White Point like in the winter?
This is a favourite time of the year – the surf pounds harder and the white sand is gently washed away, leaving behind a stone beach (the sand begins returning in the spring reaching a full white sand beach again in August). With the coastal breezes, keeping the two to three inches of snow we tend to get is difficult. Occasionally we are blessed with a winter that gives us enough snow to snowshoe and ski on the Golf Course.

Do I need an adapter for the power outlets?
White Point has 110 wattage, which means if you live within North America you will not require an adapter. If you are from outside North America, you may need an adapter for electrical devices such as a razor.

How long does it take to drive to White Point from…

I have food allergies. Is this a problem?
Food allergies are not a problem at White Point. When you are ordering food, please inform your waiter and arrangements will be made to accommodate your needs. You are welcome to check out our menus here online as well.
If there are very specialized ingredients you require, please contact the dining room before your visit.

Is the lake freshwater?
Yes, Dogget’s Lake is a freshwater lake.

Does the Beach Pond have fish?
Doggett’s Lake has small fish (minnows), but no fish for angling. However, Five Rivers Tidal Estuary offers great fishing, especially in the spring with sea trout.

How many people work at White Point?
There are approximately 200 people that work at White Point, we are the largest private-sector employer in our area.

Do accommodations have BBQ’s?
There are BBQ’s on the decks of our Vacation Homes and Cottages, however, Oceanfront, White Point and Riverside Cottages and guestrooms do not have BBQ’s. The use of a BBQ on the Main Resort property is not permitted. Please review your confirmation letter upon receipt if you are needing further clarification as it will indicate clearly if you are in a unit in which they are permitted.

Is Wi-Fi available?
For your convenience, we have complimentary Wi-Fi service throughout the property. Please note, however, that the strength of the service can be inhibited by weather, number of devices connected at the same time on property and of course your own electronics. We invite guests to refrain from live-streaming of movies, and use it minimally while you are here – you are after all, on vacation! If you require reliable internet access, please drop by the Front Desk to use our Guest Computer which is a direct internet link.

What currency do we accept?
As we are located in Canada, our currency is Canadian. We do accept all major credit cards and debit cards.
