Join Parks Canada and special partners for a one-of-a kind salty adventure on Saturday, September 21, 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at Kejimkujik National Park Seaside – CrabFest!
Get up close and personal with all things coastal including how to cook, prepare and eat local seaweeds and green crab. Demonstrations, local restaurant tastings, guided coastal foraging hike, and ‘crabby’ activities for the whole family.

Guided Coastal foraging hike to Harbour Rocks with East Coast Wild Foods (10:45 am – 12:30 pm)
Leisurely guided hike to Harbour Rocks Beach, stopping along the way for plant identification and recipe discussions.
Once at Harbour Rocks, Parks Canada Interpreters will invite participants to find green crabs along the rocky inter-tidal zone.
Participants will assist with preparation of the ‘Wild Food Taster’.
Beach-side Bites (12:30 pm to 1 pm)
Partners including Boxing Rock Brewing Company showcase their products and connection to Kejimkujik.
Opportunity to sip and savour ‘Wild Foods Taster’, Boxing Rock Beverages and Mateus Bistro green crab bisque all while taking in a green crab prep demonstration.
Children will be challenged to try the Parks Canada ‘Green Crab Obstacle Course’
The Day’s Catch (1:30 pm to 2:30 pm)
Participants can get their hands wet by helping to sort and measure green crabs caught during the day’s Gone Crabbin’ program.
Opportunity for participants to share their stories and knowledge about Nova Scotia’s fishing industry.
GOOD TO KNOWS:
Participants should wear sturdy hiking shoes and be prepared to hike 6.5km.
Please dress for cooler coastal weather and bring snacks and water as this is a tasting event only.
CrabFest is a fair weather event and will be postponed if it rains or there are high winds, exceeding gusts of 35km/hr. Registered participants will be notified of cancellation by 3pm the day prior.
Participants should gather at the trail head in the parking lot. Event begins promptly at 10:30 am.
