Join us every Monday and Thursday around our seaside bonfire to explore Mi’kmaw history and culture.
Monday: From 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM
Thursdays: From 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM
Join Shanyn, every Monday and Thursday, around our seaside bonfire to explore Mi’kmaw history and culture.
Enjoy Luskinikn, as she shares legends about bunnies, historical knowledge about Mi’kmaw and White Point, and enchants you with traditional song and drum.
Luskinikn is a Mi’kmaw traditional bread, roasted over the fire on a stick, and served with maple syrup.
Shanyn will also share with guests the Mi’kmaw tradition of smudging, which involves the burning of 4 sacred medicine gathered from the earth.
Sage: Wards off Negativity
Tobacco: An Offering
Shanyn will light the 4 medicines on fire in an abalone shell and push around the smoke created using the eagle feather. The smudge goes to the face to see and hear clearly, your feet to walk the narrow path of life, and to the heart as a wish for love and happiness.
