WANTED: Wearable Art Artists for a NEW Nova Scotia Showcase
Nova Scotia’s Wearable Art Show
Saturday May 11, 2019
… An Invitation!
White Point Beach Resort is proud to be a champion for local, handmade art and craft. Our onsite Gift Shop is more like a gift gallery featuring works by more than 100 artists in all mediums. Annually we expand well beyond the footprint of the Shop to host our ‘Artists of White Point Showcase’ in November along with a number of additional showcases throughout the year. From the Lobs’ART Show in February for the Lobster Crawl, Sea’Art for Oceans Week and in 2018 we curated an outdoor sculpture show featuring 35 sculptures by 19 Nova Scotian Artists. Sea’spired the Sculpture Show now lives on as a legacy with 14 sculptures remaining in place to be explored and experienced.
In 2019, we aspire to expand our Sea’spired initiative this time in the form of celebrating handmade Nova Scotian created Wearable Art. Increasingly popular ‘wearable art’ is just that art that is created to be worn. It is unique, handmade, one-of-a-kind, bespoke accents that enable us to express our individuality, personality and often, moods and pride in local artists.
Wearable Art takes many forms and is crafted in many mediums. From clothing and adornments for clothing to jewelry, hats, handbags, gloves, shoes and belts, the possibilities are endless. Imaginative, original and suitable works of art to be worn are the foundations upon which we are basing this collection and showcase.
Inspired by Nova Scotia and her seaside surroundings, Sea’spired Nova Scotia’s Wearable Art Show is being created and hosted to showcase works by Nova Scotian Artists in our unique settling. Bringing Artists and new audience together, we hope you’ll consider being one of up to 24 established and developing artists within our show.
Artists who are creating WEARABLE ART we invite you to consider being a part of our Sea’spired Wearable Art Show, a first for Nova Scotia.
