Paddle Through Time – Ed Benham carves a new feature for White Point
On Nov. 8th, 2013 during our 1st Year Anniversary Reception, surrounded by White Pointers, we were delighted to unveil our newest work of art. These 2 hand carved paddles of maple were designed and created just for us by Mi’Kmaq Artist Ed Benham. Known for his design and detail in wood, these paddles take us back through time and connect us to our lands first people, the ancestors of today’s Acadia First Nation people. We are very proud to have these paddles. Although they were commissioned to serve as new handles for our main lodge, they will actually be hung within the lodge for all to appreciate. Our owners Robert and Alicia along with our team, felt that such beauty and detail required a spot where folks can linger and enjoy the workmanship – we’re back to the drawing table for those door handles!
