Frequently Asked QuestionsWe understand that the Main Lodge at White Point was destroyed by fire in November 2011, what will the new Main Lodge under construction slated for Fall 2012 opening look like? Is White Point the right "fit" for our wedding? Wedding Ceremonies Can we have our wedding ceremony itself on the beach? Due to tides, uneven surfaces and related safety concerns, we are not able to host actual wedding ceremonies on the sand beach itself. However, to get you as close as possible to the beach, we can host your ceremony on the lawn in front of the Ocean Lodge, adjacent to the Main Lodge with the Atlantic Ocean as your backdrop! How much does it cost to host an outdoor ceremony? Our Outdoor Wedding Ceremony fee is $500.00 plus 15% HST and is available to couples hosting their reception on site. This includes:
For ceremony only events (for those hosting their reception at another location), the ceremony fee will be a minimum charge of up to $1000.00 plus 15% HST, based on your specific requirements and availability. Where else can we host our ceremony at White Point Beach Resort? It is also possible to hold the wedding ceremony in one of our many banquet rooms. Availability would depend on the date and time of the wedding and the number of guests you are expecting. Do you make the arrangements for the Officiant? We can provide contact information for local Ministers and Justices of the Peace. However, these are very personal arrangements that should be made directly by the engaged couple. Wedding ReceptionsHow many people can White Point accommodate for a Wedding Reception? With more than 10,000 square feet of meeting and events space, we are able to offer you a variety of locations to host your reception at White Point Beach Resort. From our spectacular Conference Centre or Lakeside Hall, our banquet space can accommodate everything from an intimate gathering of the immediate family to a full sit down dinner for 250. Our Conference Centre features floor to ceiling windows overlooking the spectacular Atlantic Ocean and White Point Beach. Our Lakeside Hall overlooks the lake on the property and features a floor to ceiling wood-burning stone fireplace. Can I host my reception in the Conference Centre? To reserve your wedding reception in the Conference Centre, we are happy to provide this banquet facility free of charge if a minimum number of people (100) and minimum purchase requirements are met ($36 per person prior to taxes and gratuities for food and $350 in bar sales). If your party is less than 100 people and you would still like to use the Conference Centre, a banquet room rental fee will be applied based upon your menu costs. Can I host my reception in Lakeside Hall? To reserve your wedding reception in Lakeside Hall, we are happy to provide this banquet facility free of charge if a minimum of 60 people and minimum purchase requirements are met ($36 per person prior to taxes and gratuities for food and $350 in bar sales). The maximum comfortable number for this banquet room is 100 people. If your party is less than 60 people and you would still like to use Lakeside Hall, a banquet room rental fee will be applied based upon your menu costs. Do you provide decorating services or can we decorate ourselves? We understand that decorations create an atmosphere and are happy to work with you in planning your decor. Unfortunately, White Point is not able to provide decorating services for your event, nor do we have supplies available for use. We are able to provide you with contact information for decorators in our region. Please be aware that due to fire regulations, White Point does not allow the following: taper candles and/or taper style slim candlesticks, candelabra (free standing or tabletop), or any kind of candle on the window sills. We require that all decorations be authorized for use by one of the Event Services Team. We reserve the right to refuse use of any decorations should there be a potential fire/health risk. Sit down banquets or buffets can be accommodated with a variety of menu choices. We also offer an extensive hors d'oeuvres menu should you prefer a stand up reception. Please note however, all food and beverage must be catered by White Point Beach Resort. The only exception would be the wedding cake. For more information about your meal options, view our banquet menus. Do you provide alternate food for children? We recognize that "little ones" are an important part of the day, and that they may prefer something other than Mommy's dinner to eat. Please refer to our "Kids Stuff" page in our menu, with entrees such as chicken fingers and fries, hamburgers, etc that will tempt their taste buds. Can I bring my own wine? What if we wanted special labels for our wine? We are often asked about Private Label wines for weddings. This can be accommodated provided that the wine is purchased through our license and delivered to White Point by the supplier. Our standard corkage fee will be applied per bottle for opening and serving wine not purchased through White Point. We would be happy to provide you with contact information for these suppliers. Nova Scotia liquor laws do not permit home-made wine to be served in a licensed area. While we are unable to serve home-made wine during your event, if you wish to provide home-made wine as a gift to your guests, we can deliver items to the accommodations for a nominal fee. Can we stock and operate our own bar? All of White Point's banquet spaces are licensed areas, therefore you would not be able to supply your own alcohol for an event. How late can the bar stay open? The bar can stay open until 1am and we suggest this as an appropriate end time for your event. Can we have a bonfire during the evening? What about overnight accommodations? Your guests are invited to stay with us at White Point Beach Resort. We have a 2-night minimum booking policy for accommodations, therefore your guests would be required to book either Friday and Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday evenings if the wedding is taking place on a weekend. There are no discounts for accommodations. If you feel you would require rooms for your guests, we suggest putting a "room block" in place as soon as possible in order to ensure availability. We will require a pre-determined release date for this block which will be outlined in your contract. What deposits are required? A non-refundable deposit of $1000.00 is required to confirm your date. A second deposit will be due 6 months prior to your wedding date and outlined in your contract. This amount will be credited to your final bill. Full payment of the balance is due upon check out from the Resort. Is there a minimum purchase requirement? Yes, White Point requires a minimum food purchase of $36 per person, prior to taxes and gratuities. As well, for all cash or host bars, there is a minimum sales requirement of $350.00 prior to taxes and gratuities. Set-up, labour and room rental fees will not apply if these minimums are met. Rehearsal PartiesCan you accommodate our rehearsal party? If your wedding is taking place at White Point - Why not make it a White Point Weekend and have your rehearsal party on site? Many couples include the evening before the big day festivities as an ice breaker for out of town guests or a reunion of family members. If you are planning your reception in the Liverpool area and/or have guests staying at White Point, why not have the rehearsal party here for a change of location? Some of our more popular rehearsal party ideas include: a BBQ and mussel bake at one of our outdoor waterside fireplaces, a planked salmon buffet or an hors d'oeuvres reception in one of our banquet rooms. Call us for more details! Other ServicesCan we have fireworks as part of our event? Fireworks have become a very popular addition to events at White Point. To ensure the best experience for you and your guests, we have a few parameters under which we permit fireworks. Fireworks can be hazardous and for that reason, staging and managing any and all fireworks shows at White Point shall be done by one of our trained staff members. Please make arrangements with your White Point Event Services contact person prior to your arrival date to review your fireworks show plans. Based on past experience, we recommend that fireworks be purchased from a professional supplier such as Fireworks FX in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. We have found that those purchased at convenience stores and gas stations are not always stored correctly and result in lesser quality experiences. Presenting your fireworks show is a service we are happy to provide at a cost of $60 plus tax and gratuity. For your convenience, if you prefer, we are able to order your fireworks based on your specifications as well. If my guests need Baby Sitting services, can you provide assistance? White Point is pleased to offer babysitting services at a rate of $10 plus tax per sitter per hour. We do ask for a maximum of 3 children per sitter. Arrangements can be made by calling the front desk, and we recommend this be done 3-4 weeks prior to your scheduled arrival date.
