Fort
Point Lighthouse Park, Liverpool: deMonts and Champlain landed
on this site in 1604; a Privateers' fort defended the town and
trading routes in the 18th century; and the Lighthouse has stood
since 1855.
Hank Snow Country Music Centre, Liverpool: A renovated CN railway
station, less than 3.5 km from Hank's Childhood home; artifacts,
audiovisual displays and memorabilia on the history and heritage
of Canadian country music, featuring the legendary Hank Snow,
Wilf Carter, Carroll Baker & others.
Perkins House Museum, Liverpool: St. Perkins entertained governors,
privateer captains and preachers in his home in the late 1700's.
Perkins is designated a person of National Historic Significance.
Read about the colonial life in Perkins' meticulous diaries which
he kept from 1766 to 1812.
Queens County Museum, Liverpool: This building represents the
warehouse of Simeon Perkins' business. Exhibits about forestry,
shipbuilding, Mi'kmaq life, and privateering; working model railroad
representing the county rail lines.
Sherman Hines Museum of Photography & Galleries, Liverpool:
The only photographic museum east of Montreal. Vintage photographs
by Karsh, Notman, MacAskill, Hines and others; first photographs
by scenic photographer Sherman Hines. Changing shows in galleries.
Rossignol Cultural Centre, Liverpool: This museum showcases the
eccentric treasures that famed Nova Scotia photographer, Sherman
Hines has collected over the years. The exhibits include a wildlife
museum and art gallery, hunting and fishing museum featuring a
replica of a trapper's cabin, a folk art gallery, an outhouse
museum and an artist in residence. There is also a gift shop within
the museum complex where you will find some of the most unique
souvenirs in the province.
The Old Burial Ground, Liverpool: The earliest burial ground
in Liverpool (1760); resting place for several of the town's first
proprietors. All stones have been researched and documented. Tours
with costumed animators are offered during Privateer Days every
summer.
Thomas Raddall Genealogy Research Centre, Liverpool: The most
extensive records of the Mayflower descendants in Nova Scotia.
New England and German records. Over 300 reels of micro-film.
Milton Blacksmith Shop, Milton: Restored in1903 smithy shop on
shore of Mersey River. An operational forge with original tools
and work stations.
