Thursday December 22, 2011 – White Point, NS – White Pointers are getting an early Christmas Gift this year with the announcement today of the design team that will build the Resort’s Main Lodge which was destroyed by fire on November 12, 2011.
Less than 6 weeks following the devastating fire, Robert Risley, owner of White Point, is excited and pleased to present the good news to White Pointers. “We have assembled what I consider to be the finest team of professionals in their respective fields”, says Risley.
Entrusted with the task of designing and building the new Main Lodge is a team intimate with White Point and Nova Scotia. The architectural firm is WHW Architects with Joe Zareski, MRAIC as the design principal. Joe’s familiarity with White Point has a long and personal connection. Having stayed as a child with his parents, his relationship with White Point continued to blossom with milestones in his life, including annual visits with his wife, three children and their family dog.
The interiors will be planned by Design 360, Melissa Cummings and Keri Koch, Partners. Design 360 is well acquainted with all aspects of the hospitality field, having worked on many hotels and restaurants including three of which are owned by Risley.
The Construction Manager will be J. W. Lindsay Enterprises Limited, one of the oldest and largest company of engineers and contractors in the area, with offices in Dartmouth, Moncton, St. John’s and New England. Again, Risley suggests there is a personal connection here as well, “interestingly, one of the owners and the Vice President in charge of our project honeymooned at White Point”.
Danny Morton, White Point’s General Manager, echos Risley’s enthusiasm. “We look forward to working with the team assembled over the next ten months as we move towards our reopening.”
As the White Point staff begin working with this team to create the new Main Lodge, White Pointers are being invited to participate as well. Morton says he has received many suggestions and ideas already from past guests. “As we begin the next chapter in White Point’s history, while our staff will be a part of the process, we are inviting all White Pointers to share their ideas for our new Main Lodge” says Morton. Submissions are being invited at http://www.whitepoint.com/blog/.
White Point is a popular beachside vacation destination on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. On November 12, 2011, the property’s Main Lodge was destroyed by fire. While the resort is closed, the 13 Vacation Homes and Cottages and Golf Course (spring-fall) are open and with this announcement, the plan to reopen in Fall 2012 is well underway.
