Heading into Saltscapes TO on the Queens Quay W was anticipated to be an adventure, where we hoped we would see some familiar faces, and more importantly share our story and quilt “Stitching White Pointers Together”. Within the ocean of sites and sounds of Nova Scotia – hanging proudly as part of our White Point backdrop were the 8 panels of our new White Point quilt.
With Bev Crouse at our side, the creator of our new quilt, invited guests at the show June 21-24, to take a seat and add their own stitch to the beachstone fireplace panel. To our surprise folks stepped right up – Torontonians who had been a past guest, to ex-pats from our community, to visitors from around the world and guests in general – willingly took needle in hand, adding their stitch, as they learned about the story behind our new quilt. More than 125 folks added their stitch. Many sharing their personal stories about White Point, Nova Scotia and aspirations of travelling to NS. Many shared a passion for fabric art as well – rekindling fond memories of the quilt their Grandmother had gifted to them as a treasure they cherish.
Indeed, under the shadow of the CN Tower and amidst the buzz of Toronto – we stitched memories, stories and future guests together, one at a time – strengthening the fabric of our White Point Quilt.
It was a pleasure to share our quilt, and the experience with Bev Crouse (The Quilters Net) in TO!
Here are some of the pictures we captured of folks stitching and our time at Saltscapes TO:
