June 30, 2012 is fast approaching and Volunteer Fire Departments participating in the Pennies for Protection Challenge 2012 are gaining a lot of weight – in pennies that is! Pounds, hundreds of them have already been collected and the official drop off /weigh in day is not until Sat. June 30th from 10am – 1pm at each of their Departments!
Port Medway was tipping in at 75 pounds earlier this week, while Port Williams has been leading the pack with 241 pounds following a penny parade and made off with over $400 in cash as well! Meanwhile Greenfield & District has been filling boots while Whycocomagh is filling everything in sight!
With a goal of 160 pounds of pennies per Department, we are well underway – be thanks to the 15 participating Departments and their communities, the Fire Service Association of Nova Scotia, AA Munroe Insurance, Scotia Bank (Chester/Liverpool/Bridgewater) for their continued support of this fundraiser – our vision could not have been as successful as it has been to date without you!
Support your nearest department on Sat. June 30 and bring you pennies to one of the following between 10am – 1pm:
Greenfield & District Fire Department, Port Hastings Volunteer Fire Dept, Cornwall & District Fire Dept, Port Medway Fire Dept, United Communities Fire Dept, Chester Basin Volunteer Fire Dept, Oakhill & District Fire Dept, Annapolis Royal Volunteer Fire Dept, Lunenburg & District Fire Dept, Alma Volunteer Fire Dept, Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Dept, Maitland Volunteer Fire Dept, Liverpool Fire Fighters Association, Charleston Fire Department, and Port Williams Fire Department.
