White Point, its beachfront location and vistas has been part of the tourism fabric in Nova Scotia for more than 80 years. As time passes, some of the memories begin to fade, but evidence of the days gone by are all around when you visit.
Capturing the memories, the evolution and tradition of White Point has become the focus of local Nova Scotian author Frances Jewel Dickson. Over the course of the past few months Frances has been digging into our history. Pouring over documents like the Minute Books, reviewing newspaper articles, history books and interviewing past employees and guests has led to some very interesting and neat stories – some of which many of us here at the resort did not know!
We are very excited about the historical retrospective that she is preparing and look forward to it being published in 2011. Take a peek at an interview she did with the local newspaper earlier this year. On August 12th, she also did a radio interview on CBC’s Information Morning that revealed the beginning of White Point in 1928!
